.
The project we are discussing has two
clearly different parts. The first stage is the study of the incidence of
the violence phenomenom at Secondary School in each of the countries that
partake in the project, stressing their common and specific features.
This first stage of the study will be developed
through the analysis of the data produced by the existing secondary
sources, including also the respective public policies that have faced the
phenomenom.
From this framework, once a variety of cases of
school violence have been detected, the successful strategies will be
evaluated opening the possibility of applying them to different centres
and contexts.
The second stage of the project consists of
reverting the observations, analysis and conclusions of the empirical
study to the educative community, who faces almost without any tools a
growing phenomenom.
In this way, the final report of the common
study will form the ground for the elaboration of a handbook that can be
used as a basic training material for Secondary (High) School teachers
from the partaking countries, with the suitable adaptations to each of
them. The handbook will be written in English and Spanish.
Following this, there will be designed distance
education courses in each of the countries. These courses will go through
a trial period with a small number of Secondary School teachers, who will
take part as students as well as evaluators.
